Decking

The style of decking most often used in the rock-environments that we create is of a “rustic” or “rough” nature so as to blend in more effectively with the natural landscape of tropical forest & rock.

The technique used here implies concreted, treated pine supporting poles, connected by a bolted framework of treated pine beams. The specifications of the timber would naturally vary according to size & structural complexity.
There are so many varieties of wood & finishes that can be used for the deck-surface that it would be impractical to mention them all here. Clients are free to choose from whichever surface they would prefer, bearing in mind that depending on which wood is chosen, the costs can vary significantly.

The deck shown here is constructed of  “Stone Pine” 40 x 150mm boards that were sanded & treated after being layed. The balistrades are 100mm smooth, treated SA pine poles. It is a myth that decking MUST be constructed from expensive Asian hardwoods in order to be durable, see the following article: click here
